Two Game-Winning Goals Lead Asom to Ivy League, Suburban Transit/GPT Weekly Honors

Six of the 12 Ivy League women's soccer Player of the Week honors last season went to Princeton players, and 2018 is starting out much the same.

For the third time in her career, senior Mimi Asom has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week, this time after scoring the game-winning goals in both of Princeton's wins at New Hampshire and Boston University.

She is also the SuburbanTransit/GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week.

Asom had a penalty-kick goal in the first half at UNH in Princeton's 2-0 win Friday and the game's only goal early in the second half in the 1-0 win Sunday at Boston U as the 14th-ranked Tigers emerged from the first weekend at 2-0.

Asom's goals were her 32nd and 33rd of her career and gave her 74 career points. She's eighth in program history in points, with Diana Matheson '08 seventh at 78, and sixth in goals, with Jen Hoy '13 fifth at 36.

The Tigers will open the home slate Friday against Saint Joseph's at 7 p.m. at Roberts Stadium with No. 16 N.C. State coming in Sunday at 7 p.m.
