Reigning League Champion Princeton Opens 2018 Ivy Slate At Penn Friday, Makes ESPN+ Debut
September 20, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
The three-time reigning Ivy League champion Princeton women's volleyball team has had no shortage of positive news over the last month. The Tigers knocked off a pair of Big Ten programs (Northwestern and Maryland) over the first three weeks of the season, claimed a victory at the season-opening Colgate Invitational, and rallied to win an in-state showdown with Seton Hall.
Heck, the Tigers even topped the chart in the inaugural preseason Ivy League media poll.
By 7 pm this Friday night, none of that will mean a thing. After all, this program measures itself on Ivy League titles, and the path to the 2018 crown will begin that night.
Princeton (7-4) will head to the Palestra in Philadelphia to take on Penn (3-8) in the Ivy League opener for both teams. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+, as will all home matches for Princeton this season. You can find subscription information for ESPN+ here.
While Princeton returns the Ivy League Player of the Year in Maggie O'Connell, the Tigers' depth of talent has been on full display already this season. Junior Devon Peterkin was named the Tournament MVP at the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament at Colgate, while sophomore Clare Lenihan has burst on the scene with one of the Ivy's top hitting percentages this season. Junior tri-captain Jessie Harris leads the Ivies in assists, while newcomer Cameron Dames ranks among the league leaders in digs. Harris was recently profiled in the most recent Tiger Talks episode, which you can see below.
