Home Sweet Home.

The Princeton Tigers' 2018 home opener was a wild success as they swept the Brown Bears, 3-0, at Dillion Gym on Friday evening.

Princeton, who hasn't lost more than one home contest since 2014, did not allow more than 13 points in any set, earning a 25-12, 25-13, 25-13 decision. Devon Peterkin lead the squad with 13 kills while Maggie O'Connell added 11 kills. The Tigers had just five attack errors in the three-set victory. Jessie Harris' 37 assists paced the offense while Peterkin contributed 14 digs as well.

Head coach Sabrina King's group started quickly with four of the first five points before the Bears closed within two, 7-5. The Tigers used an 8-3 spurt to jump back ahead by seven and were never threatened after that in the first set.

Brown opened up the second stanza with a lead, but Princeton countered to tie the Ivy matchup. The two conference foes were even at 9-all, before the Tigers rolled off six of the next seven points. The Bears would not get closer than four as Princeton took a 2-0 set advantage.

Squared at 4-all in the third frame, four consecutive points by the Tigers gave them their first separation of the set. A timeout by Brown hardly slowed the Princeton offense as King's unit pushed ahead, 11-5. The Tigers wrapped up the match with authority, rattling off 8-of-10 to move to 2-0 in the Ivy League and 9-4 overall.

Princeton will now turn its attention to its Saturday night showdown with Yale, a rematch of the 2017 Ivy League playoff match that Princeton won 3-0 in New Haven. These teams split the regular season series last year, with Yale handing Princeton its only home loss in Ivy League play over the last two seasons. Either Princeton (11) or Yale (4) received every first-place vote in the preseason media poll, and the rivalry has become so big that ESPNU will televise their late-season match (Oct. 26) in New Haven.
