Princeton Men's Track and Field Set For Busy Weekend After HYP Victory

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton men's track and field team will participate at the Harvard Invitational (Feb. 1) and Villanova Invitational (Feb. 2) this weekend.

Avriam Shwarzbard (Long Jump), Gilron Tsabkevich (Long Jump), C.J. Licata (Shot Put), Kelton Chastulik (Shot Put), Andrew Diehl (High Jump), Dayo Abeeb (Triple Jump), Jeffrey Hollis (High Jump), Jeffrey Lee-Heidenreich (High Jump) will take part in the Harvard Invitational on Friday.

Licata had the 10th furthest shot-put throw in the program history at the Navy Dual (17.53m). Hollis snagged the fifth best long jump of all-time (2.15) while Chastulik also set the new personal-high in the shot put (17.36m) at the New Year Invitational. Lee-Heidenreich also secured a personal best in the high jump (2.08m) at the TCNJ Invite.

The squad also partakes in the Villanova Invite on Saturday. Last season, Princeton won five events in this event as Charlie Volker (60m), Sam Ellis (800m), Noah Kauppila (mile), William Paulson (3,000m) and Adam Kelly (weight throw) earned victories.

Last week, Princeton dominated the HYP event, dropping Harvard and Yale for its 27th straight HYP title. The Tigers (119) outscored Yale (47) by 72 and Harvard (15) by 104, earning at least three points in every event.

Adam Kelly with the sixth best weight throw in the nation (22.19m), his best of the winter campaign. His throw was almost six meters more than the second-place finisher.

Simang'aliso Ndhlovu (6.88) and Daniel Afolabi (6.91) going 1-2 in the 60m event. In the qualifying race, Ndhlovu set a new career mark (6.82), which is also the third fastest ever by indoor standards. Afolabi set a personal-best time as well.

The Tigers dwarfing the competition in the 3000m outing, finishing with top four runners. Ed Trippas (8:20.58) out ran Viraj Deokar (8:24.37), Matt Grossman (8:24.99) and Jakob Kintzele (8:25.87). Trippas' adjusted mark would be the fastest 3000m time of Ivy League foes in the winter.
