Sophomore Patrick Glory and senior Mike D'Angelo won their brackets to open the season Sunday at the Princeton Open in Jadwin Gym.
Glory swept through the 125-pound bracket, recording all four of his wins by fall or technical fall. A sixth-place finisher at the NCAA Championships last year who is ranked fifth nationally by Intermat, Glory was one of two Tigers in the 125-pound draw. Freshman Sean Pierson made the semis in his collegiate debut before coming up just short to Rutgers' Nic Aguilar, 5-3. Glory then beat Aguilar in the final, 15-0.
D'Angelo, ranked 12th nationally by Intermat, made the finals of the 149-pound bracket and met Tiger alum and 2019 NCAA fifth-place finisher Matthew Kolodzik '19, taking the draw by medical forfeit.
Sophomore Quincy Monday made the finals of the 157-pound draw, beating Intermat's seventh-ranked Josh Humphreys of Lehigh by decision, 11-5. Rider's Jesse Dellavecchia, ranked 11th by Intermat, got past Monday in the finals, 4-2.
The Tigers will begin the dual-match season Nov. 23 against Lehigh in Jadwin Gym, the first of four matches in Jadwin this year. Tickets are available here.
