December 29, 2019 | Wrestling
Patrick Glory and Patrick Brucki have advanced to Monday's semifinals at the Midlands Championships outside Chicago.
Monday's competition will get going at 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill., and can be seen on FloWrestling with live results here. Monday's second session will feature the first-, third- and fifth-place matches beginning at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
Brucki, ranked third in the nation at 197 and seeded second in the tournament, won four matches Sunday to make the semifinals in his pursuit of a second consecutive Midlands title. He'll take on Purdue's eighth-ranked and third-seeded Christian Brunner in the semifinals with Iowa's second-ranked and top-seeded Jacob Warner and Virginia's 16th-ranked and fifth-seeded Jay Aiello in the other semifinal.
Glory, ranked third in the nation at 125 and seeded second at Midlands, didn't need to go the distance in any of his three matches Sunday, defeating Harvard's Beau Bayless with a fall 3:50 in, following that with an 18-0 technical fall over Missouri's Noah Surtin in 5:33, and booking his place in the semis with a 17-0 technical fall over Northwestern's 10th-seeded Chris Cannon in 6:36. Indiana's Brock Hudkins, seeded third and ranked eighth in the country, is Glory's semifinal opponent, and two-time reigning NCAA champ and No. 1-ranked Spencer Lee will face Northwestern's fifth-seeded and 10th-ranked Michael DeAugustino in the other semifinal.
Princeton will have two more wrestlers in consolation battles Monday. Quincy Monday, ranked fifth in the nation at 157 and seeded first in the event, rebounded from a round-of-16 loss to unseeded Markus Hartman of Army West Point to win two consolation matches later Sunday. He will take on Ohio's Zac Carson in the consolation quarterfinals.
At 174, unseeded Nate Dugan fell to 11th-ranked and fourth-seeded Ben Harvey of Army West Point in the round of 16 and won a pair of consolation matches later Sunday. He'll take on Virginia's Victor Marcelli in the consolation quarters.
