Princeton Prevails Over Harvard, 75-71

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Bella Alarie, Carlie Littlefield and Gabrielle Rush combined for 50 points as the Princeton Tigers took down the Harvard Crimson, 75-71, at the Lavietes Pavilion on Friday evening.

Alarie led all scorers with 19 points, adding nine rebounds, four blocks and two steals. Littlefield contributed 16 points, four helpers and two swipes while Rush dropped in 15 points. Qalea Ismail hit 4-of-6 from the floor for nine points off the bench in the win.

Tied at 7-all, the Crimson went on a push, scoring nine straight with under four minutes left in the first quarter. The Tigers finished off the frame with an 8-0 spurt including this bucket from Alarie to cut its deficit to one, 16-15 …

The Tigers' offense came out on fire to begin the second half, knocking in six of their first nine shots, pushing its lead to 15, 50-35, halfway through the third quarter. This steal and bucket from Ismail led to a Harvard timeout …
An 8-2 sprint to wrap up the third stanza got the Crimson within seven, 60-53. The Tigers got a layup from Rush to go back in front by double-digits (66-55) with 8:05 left in the contest, but Harvard used a 10-4 counter to set the score at 70-65 (4:05). An And-1 from Grace Stone stymied the rally before back-to-back three-pointers from Madeline Raster made the Ivy League battle a two-point affair (73-71) with 40 seconds remaining.

On the next possession, Ismail scooped up an offensive rebound, which forced Harvard to foul. The senior made a free-throw and on the following trip down the floor, Harvard's trey was off the mark. Rush's free-throw with four seconds to go sealed the victory for Princeton.

Banghart's unit improved to 12-9 overall and 4-2 in the Ivy League while Harvard dropped to 11-9 and 4-3 in the conference. The Tigers will finish up the weekend at Dartmouth tomorrow (Feb. 16). Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. Fans can stream the game on ESPN+ or watch it on NESN+.
