Princeton Heads to Harvard/Dartmouth As Ivy Race Heats Up

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers head on the road to battle the Harvard Crimson on Friday (Feb. 15, 7 p.m.) and the Dartmouth Big Green (Feb. 16, 5 p.m.).

Harvard sits third in the Ivy League at 4-2, followed by Princeton (3-2) and Dartmouth (3-3). Penn is at the top of the conference (5-0) with Yale (4-2) in the second.

Rebounding – Yale continued to show why it was one of the best rebounding teams in the country, securing a 45-31 edge in that category on Friday. Alexandra Maund had 11 caroms to lead the Bulldogs while four other players had at least five. Prior to the game, Princeton had won the rebounding battle in six straight outings.

Roxy Barahman – The Bulldog had an outstanding contest vs. Princeton, dropping in 33 points on 11-of-18 shooting. She did not miss from beyond the arc in six attempts, and added seven rebounds, five steals and four assists in the win.

Quick Pace – While Brown's two top scoring guards, Justine Gaziano and Shayna Mehta, did snag a combined 42 points, they did so on an inefficient 40 shot attempts. The Bears' offense was effective from beyond the arc (13-23), but Princeton pushed away in the fourth quarter with an 11-2 spurt.

Long-Range Buckets – Harvard leads the Ivy League in three-point field goals per game (9.2) while Princeton is last in defending the three-point line (36.5). The Crimson have knocked down at least nine treys in four Ivy contests this season. Harvard's season-best is 13, a mark its reached twice against LaSalle and No. 13/14 California.

Dartmouth's Defense – The Big Green rank 77th in the country (59.9) in scoring defense. After dropping the first two conference games to Harvard, Dartmouth has taken down three of its last four Ivy foes, not allowing more than 70 points during that stretch. The Big Green have defended beyond the arc well as opponents are shooting under 30 percent (29.4) this season.

Gabrielle Rush – Since returning from break, the Tigers have received from contributions from several players including the senior guard. In those four games, Rush has added 14.0 points on 41.7 percent shooting from deep, contributing 3.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 steals per game. Against Yale and Brown, Rush hit 11 treys including a career-high six vs. the Bears on Saturday. Starting for the first time in her career, the Hinsdale, Ill., native is having a stellar senior campaign, setting personal-bests in points (13.2), rebounding (5.2), assists (2.3), steals (1.7) and total three-pointers (62).
