Â
Defense? – Columbia's defense couldn't stop Bella Alarie as she broke the Ivy League single-game records for points (45) and field goals (28). The Lions' offense kept them within striking distance for almost three quarters, but the Tigers pulled away and weren't threatened in the fourth frame.
Â
Cornell allowed 11 straight points to begin the second half to go down by 25 and didn't have the offensive firepower to get back into the contest.
Â
Sienna Durr – The Lions' leading scorer coming to the game, Durr registered 10 points on an inefficient 10 shots. She was 3-of-10 from the floor, but did grab seven rebounds in the loss.
Â
Struggle from the Three-Point Line – Cornell's struggles from deep continued against Princeton as the Big Red made two attempts from beyond the arc on 13 tries (15.4 percent). The Big Red's only trey of the second half game came with eight minutes to go as it trailed by 25.
Â
Here are a few notes for this weekend's Yale/Brown contests …
Â
Rebounding – Yale is one of the best rebounding teams in the country (42.6, 29th). The Bulldogs have grabbed at least 50 boards in three of their last five games. They have four players that snag at least five caroms a game, highlighted by Camilla Emsbo (8.8).
Â
Roxy Barahman – The Yale junior is 33rd in the nation in scoring (19.3). She scored 31 in a win over Brown on Jan. 26 and has scored in double figures in every game except for one. She hit a buzzer beater to drop Harvard last Friday which was No. 2 on Sportscenter's Top-10 plays. She shot 44 percent from the floor and averaged 10.3 points against the Tigers in three meetings last season.
Â
Quick Pace – Brown sits at No. 47 in Division-I in scoring offense (74.7), led by its ability to hit three-pointers (8.2, 38th). Justine Gaziano (19.0) and Shayna Mehta (17.9) are among the top three in the conference in scoring while Gaziano is nationally ranked in three-point field goal percentage (38.2). Last year at Princeton, Brown made just 16 baskets and two treys in a 35-point loss. Mehta scored 18 of the Bears' 44 points while Gaziano had just one bucket.
