Alarie Drops 41 as Princeton Rallies For 82-75 Win Over Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. – Bella Alarie posted 41 points on 16-of-24 shooting as the Princeton Tigers came back to defeat to Dartmouth Big Green, 82-75, at Leede Arena on Saturday night.

Alarie is one of two players in Ivy League history to score 40 points or more in a game twice (Diana Caramanico, Penn, 1999, 2001). She has three of the four best single-game point totals in program history.

The 2018 Ivy League Player of the Year added 13 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Gabrielle Rush dropped in 14 points, four assists and three caroms while Carlie Littlefield snagged 13 points, four boards, three steals and two helpers in the win.

Princeton started slowly, making two baskets in the first quarter along with nine turnovers, as it trailed 20-6 after 10 minutes.

Dartmouth took its largest lead of the game with the first basket of the second frame (22-6).

Then Alarie got to work.

She scored the next 13 points for Princeton in just 2:32 of action as the Tigers' deficit got cut to five (24-19) with 6:42 to go in the first half. Princeton got as close as three, but trailed 40-35 at the break. Alarie finished the remarkable quarter with 23 points on 8-of-10 from the floor.

This bucket from Littlefield gave the Tigers their first lead since it was 2-0.
Littlefield's trey extended a 10-0 run for the Tigers after Dartmouth opened the second half with a basket.

In front by one, 53-52, head coach Courtney Banghart's team finished off the third stanza with a 9-2 run to push its advantage to eight (62-54).

Princeton held Dartmouth without a point for the first 3:35 of the final stanza, taking its biggest lead of the matchup, 68-54. The Big Green made another push, using a 11-2 jump to get the game to a five (70-65) as the clock ticked near four minutes.

Princeton shot 53.1 percent (25-47) after the first quarter and turn the ball just four times. Isalys Quinones registered a team-high 22 points for the Big Green in the loss.

The Tigers improved to 13-9 overall and 5-2 in the Ivy League as Dartmouth fell 10-11 this season and 3-5 in Ivy play. With Yale's loss tonight, Princeton jumps to second place, one game behind Penn (6-1), who lost to Harvard. The Tigers welcome Cornell (Feb. 22) and Columbia (Feb. 23) to Jadwin Gym next week to start the second half of the conference schedule.Â
