Bubble Lui Becomes Seventh Ivy Women's Squash Rookie Of The Year, Joins El Torky On All-Ivy Team

Bubble Lui, a freshman who immediately assumed the No. 1 position on the ladder this season, became the seventh Princeton women's squash player to earn the Ivy League Rookie of the Year Award, it was announced Wednesday following a vote of the league coaches. She is also the second straight Tiger to earn the honor; 2018 recipient Raneem El Torky joined Lui on this year's All-Ivy League team as well.
Both Lui and El Torky were selected to the All-Ivy team following a season in which they held the top two spots on the ladder for a Princeton team that went 13-1 overall. Lui won six matches during her freshman season, including three in Ivy League play, to help Princeton assume the No. 2 overall ranking and the second spot in the final Ivy League standings. El Torky was 9-3 on the season, and she was 5-2 in Ivy League play, a one-victory improvement from her freshman season.
Previous Princeton Rookie of the Year recipients include Katherine Johnson (1994), Missy Wyant (1995), Julia Beaver (1998), Maria Elena Ubina (2014), Olivia Fiechter (2015), and El-Torky (2018).
Princeton will travel to Trinity for this weekend's Howe Cup Championships, which begin Friday at 4 pm with a match against seventh-seeded Columbia. Check back Thursday for a full preview of the Howe Cup weekend.
