LINKS: Live Video
The Princeton wrestling team will look for its ninth win of the season this Friday night when it makes a second straight trip to Philadelphia for a 7 pm showdown against Drexel. The Tigers (8-6) will try to head into the postseason with a third straight win, and it will also be looking for a sixth victory in seven attempts against EIWA competition. The match will be streamed live (see link above), and it will also be televised locally on NBC Sports Philadelphia+.
Freshmen Marshall Keller (141) and Quincy Monday (157) both have the opportunity to reach the 20-win mark Friday night, which would give Princeton four 20-match winners heading into the postseason. Third-ranked 197-pounder Patrick Brucki leads Princeton with 24 wins this season, while 10th-ranked freshman Patrick Glory has 21. Second-ranked Matthew Kolodzik missed the season-opening Tiger Open due to competing at the NWCA All-Star Classic (which he won over Top-10 opponent Mitch Finesilver), so Kolodzik heads into the weekend with a 17-1 record.
Junior Leonard Merkin is making a push towards the postseason as well. He moved into the 165-pound spot last Saturday and earned a 2-1 win during Princeton's 28-6 rout of Penn. Merkin has only wrestled twice since the start of 2019, but he has wins over both Oklahoma State and Penn.
Drexel (4-9, 1-4 EIWA) will welcome Princeton to the Daskalakis Athletic Center for the start of its final home weekend. The Dragons have three wrestlers in the most recent InterMat rankings, including 18th-ranked Stephen Loiseau at 197 and 16th-ranked Ebed Jarrell at 165.
Admission to Drexel Wrestling home events is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under. In lieu of purchasing tickets for the month of February, you can also bring two unopened jars of peanut butter in exchange for one adult ticket to a Drexel home event in support of Philabundance's goal of 40,000 jars of peanut butter.
