The Princeton women's lacrosse team flew back from Florida Wednesday, with a 13-11 win over the Gators in the rear-view mirror and a big Ivy League test in front of them.
Â
The Tigers have won four straight since their only loss of the season, leaving them at 5-1 as winter turns to spring. Up next is Brown, a team that is serious about playing into May and the Ivy League tournament.
Â
Princeton has won its only Ivy League game to date, defeating Columbia 19-1 two weeks ago. Brown comes in 1-1 in the league, and its win was over Yale 14-11 last week for its first victory over the Bulldogs since 2011.
Â
The recent history of the Princeton-Brown series suggests this one will be close.
Â
Princeton vs. Brown: Five Storylines
Â
The series
Princeton leads the all-time series with Brown 36-4. Since the teams split six meetings from 1986-91, Princeton has gone 27-1 against the Bears.
Â
The last five years have been very competitive, beginning with Brown's 14-13 overtime win over Princeton in 2014. Since then, Princeton has won all four meetings, but the margins of victory have gotten steadily smaller, from six to five to three to last year's two, in a 12-10 Tiger win.
Â
Kyla Sears led Princeton with six goals and an assist in the win last year against Brown.
Â
Milestone updates
Elizabeth George went over the 100-point mark for her career in the season opener  against Temple and now is on the verge of reaching the 100-goal mark as she enters the Brown goal with 98 for her career. Of those 98, only one has come against the Bears, by the way, and that was when she was a freshman.
Â
Brown held George without a goal last year and the year before. In fact, since the start of her sophomore year, George has only had seven goal-less games, of which two have been against Brown. Since the start of her sophomore year, George has 33 goals in Ivy League regular season games, but none of those have been against Brown.
Â
If George is able to get two 100 goals, she'll become the second Princeton player this year to reach the mark, after Tess D'Orsi got there in the win over Stony Brook and currently has 103 for her career.
Kathryn Hallett enters the Brown game with 95 career points.
Â
Sophomore sensations
Kyla Sears went over the 100-point mark for her career in the Stony Brook game and now has 110 career points in 25 career games. She now has 80 career goals and 30 career assists.
Sears had three points in the first two games and now has 24 in the last four. Of her 30 career assists, she has had 11 in the last four games.
Â
Brown is led by another sophomore, Risa Mosenthal, who enters the game with 99 career points. Mosenthal, who has 85 goals and 14 assists, leads Brown with 30 goals and 35 points this year. She has scored at least three goals in six of seven games – and had two in the other one.
Â
Turnover update
Princeton continues to cut down on its turnovers. After having 47 in the first two games – and 27 in the only loss, at Virginia – Princeton has 52 in the last four, going from 23.5 per game for the first two to 13.0 for the last four.
Â
Princeton was actually ranked 113th of 116 teams in Division I in turnovers per game after two games. Now the Tigers have moved all the way to 49th.
Â
Brown, on the other hand, leads the Ivy League and ranks ninth in Division I in caused turnovers per game.
Â
Swish
Princeton leads Division I in team shooting percentage, having scored 93 goals on 173 shots, a .538 percentage. There are only four teams in Division I currently above 50 percent in shooting percentage, Princeton, Northwestern (.529), Boston College (.514) and Coastal Carolina (.507).
Â
Tess D'Orsi, Elizabeth George and Kyla Sears rank 2-3-5 in the Ivy League in shooting percentage.
Â
Perhaps Princeton's high shooting percentage is connected to the fact that it is sixth in Division I, and first in the Ivy League, in assists per game.
Â
Other notes

* Princeton averages 15.5 goals per game, best in the Ivy League and 11th in Division I.
Â
* Junior Tess D'Orsi was named as an addition to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List, joining Sam Fish, Elizaaeth George and Kyla Sears on the list.
Â
