The Princeton men's distance group will head to California to compete in two meets to test itself in the early going of the outdoor track season.

Senior Gannon Willcutts will run in the 10k at the Mike Fanelli Classic at San Francisco State on Thursday. The 10k is slated to begin at at 6:15 p.m. PT. Willcutts has a PR of 29:46.26. He was third in the Ivy Heps 10k last year and qualified for the NCAA East Regional in the event.Â

Sophomore Drake Anzano, sophomore Sam Ellis, sophomore Cole Sandvold and freshman Scott Thompson will compete in the 1500 on Friday. There are 6 heats (heat sheets are TBA), with three heats beginning at 1:48 p.m. PT and the top three heats beginning at 6:54 p.m. PT.
Junior Viraj Deokar, freshman Jakob Kintzele, junior Conor Lundy, senior Jeremy Spiezio and senior Steven Sum are entered into the 5000 on Friday night. There are three heats, beginning at 7:55 p.m., PT.
Junior Perrin Hagge and sophomore Ed Trippas will compete in the steeplechase. With three heats, the steeplechase begins at 5:57 p.m., PT.
Last Time Out
Princeton began the outdoor season last week capping of a Spring Break training trip to Florida with the UNF Invitational at the site of the this spring's NCAA East Regional. On Day 1, senior Adam Kelly won the hammer throw with a 68.92 with freshman Chandler Ault taking the win in the javelin at 65.03 - the seventh-best javelin throw in Princeton history and is the longest throw the Tigers have had in the last decade. Junior Joey Daniels earned a win on Day 2 in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.90 - the only hurdler to clock under 14 seconds. Classmate Gab Montefalcone followed up with a win in the 400 hurdles with a PR of 52.66 Three Tigers took second place including: sophomore Will Drury in the pole vault, sophomore Jeffrey Hollis in the high jump and junior Jesse Thibodeau in the long jump.

Princeton hosts the first meet of the season next weekend, April 5-6, the annual Sam Howell Invitational at Weaver Stadium.
