A trio of teams from the Keystone State crossed the Delaware to Princeton to face the back-to-back Ivy League champion Tigers in spring games on Plummer Field between March 30 and April 19, with the Tigers sweeping all three in shutout fashion.
Princeton defeated Penn State, a 2018 NCAA quarterfinalist, on an Amy Paternoster goal on March 30. Temple visited April 12 and fell 3-0 to the Tigers with Barbara and Grossi again combining for the shutout and Tatum Gee scoring a goal with Courtney O'Brien scoring two. The Tigers completed the spring sweep Thursday, April 18, with a 4-0 win over Drexel with goals from O'Brien, Tomi Kennedy and twice from Gabi Juarez. Grace Barbara and Natalie Grossi combined for the shutout in all three games.
The Tigers finished 11-4-2 in 2018, ending the regular season with a four-match shutout streak to win the Ivy League's automatic NCAA berth. On the season, Princeton outscored their opponents 24-12, and while the Tigers graduate reigning Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year Mimi Asom, who scored 12 goals last year, the team is able to return all six other goal scorers from last season, led by current rookie Juarez and her four goals last season.
In goal, Princeton is able to return two of its three keepers who saw time last season, led by current junior Grossi, who already holds the Princeton record for career shutouts at 25 and is just four short of tying the Ivy League record for career shutouts.
