Princeton's trip to California paid off in major dividends with the high-caliber competition leading to a plethora of personal records for the Tigers.
Â
Sophomore Ed Trippas won section 3 of the steeplechase and did it with a PR of 8:51.99. He shaved nearly nine seconds off of his personal best from last season and is now on the Princeton's top-10 list at number 8. Trippas was fourth in the event at Heps last season and qualified for the NCAA East Regional. This is the first time he's clocked under nine minutes in the event, and the first Tiger to run under nine minutes since Eddie Owens '14 at the 2014 NCAA Regional. His time ranks him second in the nation in the steeplechase this season.
Â
Personal bests was the name of the game in the 5k, as nearly every Tigers ran their best career times. Sophomore Matt Grossman was fourth in section 3 with a PR of 14:06.91 – besting his previous time of 14:13.44. Junior Viraj Deokar took 14 seconds off his previous PR with a 14:13.40. Freshman Jakob Kintzele clocked 14:29.37 in his first time running the 5k outdoors and senior Steven Sum ran a 14:50.58.
Â

Though not all times for the weekend have been recorded – Lundy's time is the best of the nation this season on the TFRRS descending order list.
Â
Senior Jeremy Spiezio also ran a PR in the 5k with a 14:09.65 – two seconds faster than his previous best.
