Kelly Set For NCAA Indoor Championships
March 08, 2019 | Men's Track and Field
PRINCETON, N.J. – Adam Kelly will take part in his third NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday (Mar. 9) in the weight throw.
Â
The weight throw competition will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. In 2017, he placed ninth at the NCAA Indoor Championships, but not register a score last season. His top throw of the winter (22.53m) makes him the seventh seed.
Â
Kelly comes off an indoor season where he was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Mid-Atlantic Regional Field Athlete of the Year.
Â
He is just one of four competitors in Princeton Men's Track and Field history to be named a Regional Athlete of the Year, joining the likes of Conor McCullough (2012, indoor), Donn Cabral (2012, outdoor) and Damon McLean (2013, indoor).
Â
Kelly won his second straight Ivy League Heps indoor weight throw title (22.12m) on Feb. 23. In his four years, he's never finished lower than second. He was also picked as the Ivy Heps Most Outstanding Male Field Performer as Princeton won its fifth straight indoor Heps crown.
