ITHACA, N.Y. – Ramzi Haddad's clutch RBI single in the top of ninth inning proved to be the game-winner as the Princeton Tigers defeated the Cornell Big Red, 4-2, at Hoy Field on Sunday afternoon.

Haddad later scored on a failed pick off, giving Princeton an insurance run. Nolan, after hitting the first batter, got three straight outs in the bottom of the frame to finish off the series victory for Princeton.

Cornell was stymied by Andrew Gnazzo, unable to produce a hit until the fourth frame. A sacrifice fly gave the home team its first tally. The Big Red loaded the bases in the fifth with one out, but Gnazzo picked up a strikeout and line out to get around the jam.

The Big Red's Matt Collins homered in the sixth stanza. After giving up the four-bagger, Gnazzo retired eight of the last nine hitters. He finished with eight strikeouts in eight innings, securing his fourth victory of the season. Nolan nabbed his second save of the year. Jeb Bermiss was saddled with the loss for Cornell despite going the distance on the mound.

Princeton improved to 10-22 this season and 6-9 in the Ivy League as Cornell fell to 9-21 overall and 4-11 in the conference. This was the Tigers' first series win of the season. Princeton travels to Villanova (Apr. 24) on Wednesday before welcoming Brown to Clarke Field next weekend (Apr. 27-28).
