April 25, 2019 | Men's Rowing - Lightweight
Goldthwait/Vogel History | National Poll
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 2 men's lightweight rowing squad takes on two top-five schools on Saturday (Apr. 27) at Lake Carnegie.
The Tigers welcome No. 4 Harvard and No. 5 Yale in contest for the Goldthwait/Vogel Cups. Last season, Princeton won a thrilling battle, rallying in the final 250 meters to win by 1.2 seconds over then-No. 1 Harvard and No. 4 Yale. Over the past three seasons, each squad has won once (Harvard, 2017, Yale 2016). Harvard has won the most Goldthwait/Vogel trophies (45), followed by Princeton (28) and Yale (20).
Princeton won its 14th Wood-Hammond Trophy last Saturday on the Schuylkill River, crossing the line at 6:01.05, more than two seconds in front of Georgetown (6:03.35) and Penn (6:03.75). Cornell is the only boat this season to have taken down Princeton (Apr. 13).
This is the last race of the regular season before the Eastern Sprints (May 19). The IRA Championships (Jun. 2) cap off the 2019 campaign.
