Baseball Welcomes Brown To Clarke Field

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers host the Brown Bears at Clarke Field this weekend in the final Ivy series at Clarke Field in 2019.
The series starts Saturday (Apr. 27) with a doubleheader starting at 11:30 a.m. It's Student Day with a pregame tailgate before game two. There will be free hot dogs and cookies for the first 50 students along with games and activities. The final game of the series is Sunday (Apr. 28) with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
Columbia leads the Ivy League at 11-4 with Harvard sitting one game behind at 10-5. Penn and Yale are tied for third (8-7) with Brown (7-8) right behind them. Dartmouth and Princeton are 6-9 in the conference with Cornell at 4-11.
Princeton continues its impressive streak, taking down Villanova on Wednesday, 6-4. It's the fifth win in the team's last six games. The Tigers won against Penn before defeating Rider, 11-0, and earning a series victory at Cornell. In this stretch, Taylor Beckett has secured a .440/.481/.600 slash line with seven runs scored.
Overall, Max West has been remarkable with hits in 16 of his last 18 games, leading the team in hitting at .327. The senior has also added 21 RBI and 11 runs scored. Jake Boone is also hitting over .300 (.306) with 15 RBI and five stolen bases. Beckett has raised his batting average 66 points this month.
Ryan Smith leads the pitching staff in strikeouts (53), but James Proctor has a staff-best 11.2 strikeouts per nine. Reece Rabin has not allowed a run in his last 10 2/3 innings, securing two victories over Rider and Villanova the past two weeks.
Brown is 10-22 overall and one game under .500 in the Ivy League (7-8). The Bears have wins over Presbyterian, Fairfield, Yale, Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth and Columbia. Joe Lomuscio leads the squad in hitting (.352) while Willy Homza has the top OPS (.907).
