Princeton Takes Series With Two Wins Over Brown

Game 1 – Princeton 4, Brown 1
Brown starting pitcher Garett Delano helped his own cause with a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning.
Princeton's counter came in the fifth as Conor Nolan and Taylor Beckett led off the frame with singles. A sacrifice bunt from Max West advanced the two up a base before Ramzi Haddad brought them in with a single up the middle.
Chris Davis added on to the Tigers' advantage as he allowed Haddad to score on a single to left field later in the at-bat.Princeton 2, Brown 1 | B5

Ryan Smith provided a shutdown frame going 1-2-3 in the top of the sixth. He allowed just one base runner the rest of the way, finishing off the Bears with his first career complete game. The senior had with eight strikeouts, scattering five hits in the victory.

Game 2 – Princeton 5, Brown 4
Brown loaded the bases in the top of the first inning, but James Proctor got a strikeout looking to finish the threat. The Tigers put up a two-spot in their half of the frame. After Davis was hit by a pitch, he came around to score three batters later on a double from David Harding. A wild pitch let Harding scoot home for the Tigers' second run.
A throwing error in the next half stanza got Brown on the scoreboard. The Bears put runners on first and third with one out in the fourth, but West threw out a potential base stealer and Proctor got a strikeout to prevent a tally. Princeton added on to its margin in the fourth as Harding led off with a hit-by-pitch and circled the bases on Conor Nolan's first career triple. Beckett followed immediately with an one-base knock, bringing in Nolan.
A four-bagger by Mark Sluys got the Bears within two, 4-2, in the fifth. The road squad didn't go away as Delano cut the deficit to one with an RBI hit in the sixth. Brown eventually tied the game on a solo home run from Cameron Deere in the top of the eighth inning.
In the Tigers' portion of the eighth, Nadir Lewis reached on a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. Harding sacrificed him to third base before Nolan lifted a fly ball to left …
Brown put together a threat in the top of the ninth. With two out and a runner already on base, Rich Ciufo singled to get the tying runner in scoring position. After a pitching change, a walk loaded the bases. Nolan wrapped up the contest with getting a fielders' choice to give Princeton the win.Princeton 5, Brown 4 | B8

Beckett finished with two hits in the contest while Harding scored twice. James Proctor struck out a career-high 11 in a no-decision. Jack Anderson registered his first career victory while Nolan secured his fourth save of the season.FINAL: Princeton 5, Brown 4

Several members of the 2016 Ivy League Championship team returned for today's doubleheader in Chad Powers '17, Andrew Christie '16, Andres Larramendi '16, Danny Hoy '16 and Billy Arendt '16.
These two squads finish the series tomorrow (Apr. 28) with first pitch set for 12 p.m.
