Princeton Splits Doubleheader With Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Tigers split their doubleheader on the road against Columbia.
Princeton 11, Columbia 7
Princeton started out with a strong lead in the first inning with a five run rally. Jake Kernodle drove in the first run after being hit by a pitch, followed by an RBI double from Brady Kaufman to extend the lead. Bennett Crerar added a run with an RBI single, and Tommy Googings capped the inning with a sacrifice bunt that brought in the fifth run.
Columbia put up four runs in the third inning making it a 5-4 game .
The Tigers continued to put up six more runs in the sixth inning, giving them the 11-4 lead. Scoring was highlighted by a grand slam from Jake Koonin along with an RBI double from Brady Kaufman.
Columbia put up three more runs, making it a 11-7 win in favor of Princeton.
Liam Kinneen started on the mound for the Tigers. In his six inning outing, Kinneen allowed six runs and six hits while striking out five of the Lions' lineup.
Columbia 8, Princeton 6
Princeton put up two runs on the board, taking a 2-0 lead early in the first inning. Kernodle and Joe Montembeau both opened things up with RBI singles followed by Will Robbins who scored on a throwing error by Columbia.
Columbia continued to tie the game 3-3 later in the inning.
Grant Werdesheim drove in a run in the second, putting the Tigers ahead 4-3.
Princeton added two more in the sixth as Jake Koonin delivered an RBI single, with Tomas Cernius reaching on a fielder's choice, making it 6-3.
The Lions answered back by putting up four runs in the seventh, taking the 7-6 lead.
Elliott Eaton had a six inning start on the mound for the Tigers, allowing four runs on seven hits, while striking out seven.
The Tigers play their last game of the series tomorrow with first pitch scheduled at 12 p.m.
