Monmouth got on the board in the first inning on a wild pitch before a two-run single by Simmi Whitehill in the third frame put the road team ahead 3-0.
Jake Kernodle was hit by a pitch with the bases load in the home portion of the third before Brady Kaufman cleared the bases two batters later to put the Tigers in front, 4-3.
A sacrifice fly tied the game in the top of the fourth while Chris Walsh's two-run home run made it 6-4 Monmouth. The Hawks added three more runs the sixth before the Tigers put together a threat in their at bat. Tomas Cernius' RBI knock got the home unit with four before a throwing error tacked on two more. Monmouth added an insurance tally on a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning. Princeton brought the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth frame but couldn't put together a rally.
Cernius led the Tigers with two hits while scoring twice in the loss.
Princeton falls to 7-20 overall while Monmouth improves to 16-13 this season. The Tigers head to New York City to take on Columbia this weekend.
