PRINCETON, N.J. – The Brown Bears scored nine times in the final three innings to defeat the Princeton Tigers, 11-5, at Clarke Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Bears took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third frame as Willy Homza hit a long fly ball over Princeton center fielder Nadir Lewis' head that scored Garett Delano. Princeton responded in the bottom of the fourth as Jake Boone led off with a double and moved to third base on a bunt hit from Lewis. Conor Nolan walked to load the bases before a fielders' choice gave the Tigers their first run. A throwing error on the play put the Tigers in front.

Princeton had another threat with two out in the fifth. Eric Marasheski walked and advanced to third base on single to right field by Chris Davis. The right fielder's throw got by the infield and gave the freshman second baseman a chance to score. Davis, later, trotted home on another hit from Boone.

A sacrifice fly from Brown in the next half stanza set the contest at 4-2. The two Ivy foes exchanged runs in their next at-bats before the top of the eighth inning. In the eighth, a two-run, two-out triple tied the meeting at 5-all before a Delano run-producing double put the Bears ahead. The Tigers got a runner in scoring position in the home portion of the eighth but a strikeout finished the threat.

Brown scored five times in its half of the ninth highlighted by a three-run home run from Delano.

Boone finished with three hits while Haddad also had two knocks. Andrew Gnazzo had a quality start, throwing seven innings, scattering seven hits, allowing three runs and striking out four. Brown had 13 hits with Mark Sluys pacing the offense (three) in the win.

Princeton falls to 13-23 overall and 8-10 in the Ivy League while Brown improved to 11-24 this season and 8-10 in the conference. This was the Tigers' second straight Ivy series victory. The Tigers have a weekend series vs. St. Johns' next weekend (May 4-5). The two will play a doubleheader at St. John's on Saturday (12 p.m.) and one at Clarke Field on Sunday (1 p.m.).
