Softball Team Splits at Cornell, New Start Time Sunday

Sunday's single game to close out the series will start at 1:30 p.m., an hour later than originally scheduled.
With the split and other results around the league, Princeton, at 10-7 in the Ivy, fell three games back of leader Harvard (13-4) with four to play and two games behind Columbia (12-5) for the final Ivy League Championship Series spot. Penn stands between Princeton and Columbia at 13-7 in the league.Â
The teams traded big innings in the first game with Princeton scoring four runs on four hits, an error and a sacrifice fly with Kaylee Grant, Mackenzie Meyer, Alex Colón and Kaitlyn Waslawski driving in the runs. Cornell answered with a five-run first on five hits and a walk with Olivia Rooney getting the big hit on a grand slam.
Princeton tied it up in the second when Alex Viscusi led off with a solo homer, and the Tigers tacked on five more in the sixth on five hits and a walk with Waslawski getting a two-run double and Meyer, Allison Harvey and Hannah Lutz each driving in a run.Â

In game two, Cornell took the lead on a Hanna Crist solo homer in the second before Princeton scored three runs on three hits, a walk and two errors with Harvey and Keeley Walsh getting run-scoring base hits to help Princeton go ahead 3-1. Cornell tied it right back up in the bottom of the third when Miranda Lawson had a two-run double, and it stayed there until Emily McKinney had a leadoff homer in the sixth that ended up being the game-winner.
Megan Donahey had six hits on the day, all singles, while adding two walks. She reached base in all nine plate appearances, including one error. Allie Reynolds had both decisions on the day, going 12 1/3 innings before Riley Wilkinson finished off the sixth inning of game two.
