Princeton Goes For First Eastern Sprints Crown Since 2011 This Sunday
May 03, 2019 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 2 women's lightweight rowing squad opens up the postseason portion of the 2019 schedule as they travel to Centerville, Mass., for the Eastern Sprints this weekend.
After picking up a bronze medal in three of the previous four years, the Tigers earned a silver at the 2018 Eastern Sprints. The unit's last gold medal at Eastern was in 2011.
There has been only one boat to beat No. 2 Princeton this season, the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal. The Tigers' close margin was Mar. 30 (three seconds). Princeton has earned victories over Radcliffe (10.1 seconds) and Georgetown (2.2 seconds). The women's lightweight team placed second at Knecht Cup behind Stanford as well.
The Tigers will try to continue their improvement over the next few weeks before making the trip to California for the 2019 IRA National Championships.
