Heavies Have Each Boat Reach Sunday's IRA Grand Finals

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The men's heavyweight team advanced each boat to Sunday's Grand Finals after Saturday's races during day two of the IRA Championships.
Princeton's V8 secured the third position (5:38.12) in its semifinal, trailing Washington and Harvard. The V8 will race in lane five along with Washington, Harvard, Calif., and Northeastern on Sunday (11:12 a.m., PST, 1:12 p.m. EST).
The Tigers' 2V nabbed the third spot (5:46.93) in its semifinal, behind Calif., and Washington. Princeton will also race in lane five in its Grand Final (10:24 a.m. PST, 1:24 p.m. EST), battling Harvard, Calif., Yale, Washington and Brown.
3V collected second place (5:47.39) behind Washington in its battle on Saturday. The Tigers go off in lane four on Sunday (10:08 a.m., PST, 1:08 p.m., EST) with Yale, Washington, Harvard, Brown and Calif.
Head coach Greg Hughes' V4 unit (6:27.24) crossed the finish line behind just Calif., on Saturday. The V4 races in lane four tomorrow (9:14 a.m., PST, 12:14 p.m., EST) alongside Washington, Calif., MIT, Stetson and Georgetown.
Princeton is the only Ivy League and EARC school to put all four boats into the Grand Finals. The Princeton boathouse is also the only boathouse in the nation to have each boat make the Grand Final at the IRAs.
