Tigers in Italy: Day 5
June 21, 2019 | Men's Cross Country, Men's Track and Field, Women's Cross Country, Women's Track and Field
Day 5
We departed our hotel in Rome at 8 am and headed to the train station to head to Florence. Taking a high-speed train we were in Florence in just over an hour, and spent the day in the city. Our first stop was at the Duomo in the Piazza San Giovanni. We had lunch and then walked to the Galleria dell'Accademia, where we were able to see another one of Michaelangelo's masterpiece David.
Our tour continued through Firenza (Florence in Italian) as the guides pointed out local monuments, buildings and landmarks such as the Ponte Vecchio bridge. We then had time on our own to explore the birthplace of Italian Renaissance.
We reconvened for dinner and then boarded a train to Milan, where we will spend the final couple days of our trip.
It was a whirlwind of a day but so appreciative for this epic stop along to way to our final destination.
