Day 7
Today is our final day in Milan and it's meet day! We had an unbelievable meet put on by Athletic Elite, who designed a logo just for the meet. It featured a snake - an emblem of the of Milan and a Tiger intertwined. It was a great day with a great crowd who really loves track & field, excellent meet staff and officials and a phenomenal facility.
The day started in the rain for our throwers. Kelton Chastulik won the shot put in the pouring rain and Adam Kelly followed with a win in the hammer. The discus duo of Robbie Otal and CJ Licata wrapped up their friendly wager in the discus (see Day 2). They entered the day with a 10-meter differential that Licata would/would not come within that with a standing throw to Otal's normal rotational throw. In the end Otal won the event, with Licata in third – 11 meters behind.
Princeton swept the jumps with Jesse Thibodeau '21 recording a meet record with a 7.66, surpassing the 7.42. Aviram Shwarzbard '22 was third at 7.11, Andrei Iosivas '22 was fourth at 6.94 and Harry Lord '20 fifth at 6.50. Another meet record came from Jeffrey Hollis '21 who jumped a personal best 2.18 in the high jump. Stefan Amokwandoh '19 took top honors in the triple with a 15.08 with Austin Princewill '22 earning second place with a 14.85 and Dayo Abeeb '22 fourth at 14.48.
Obiageri Amaechi '21 won the discus with Jalah Morris '22 taking third place. Alexandra Munson '21 was fourth in the long jump at 5.28 and Hanne Borstlap '22 was third in the pole vault with a 3.60. In the triple jump Kerri Davidson '19 took fourth place with an 11.62.
Carly Bonnet '19 ended her Princeton career with a bang as she set the meet record in the 400 hurdles with a 60.81 for the win. Another win came from Madison Offstein '19 in the 1500 with a 4:28.25. Ellie Randolph '19 was fifth in the 100 hurdles at 14.69 while Heide Baron '20 was sixth in the flat 100 at 12.58. Ashley Willingham '20 doubled in the 400 and 200 with times of 57.89 and 25.83.
The day on the track began with Joey Daniels '20 setting the meet record in the 110-meter hurdles with a 13.98 besting the previous time of 14.10 set by Hassone Fofana. Taraje Whitfield '22 was fourth at 14.96. Sam Ellis '21, managed third place, despite receiving stitched in his leg just two days ago, and clocked a 1:54.31. In the 100, Justice Dixon '20 was sixth with a 10.84 and Jeremy Spiezio '19 had the top time for the Tigers in the 1500 with a 3:55.84. Michael Phillippy '22 was third in the 400 at 48.48 and anchored an incredible finish to the meet in the 4x100 relay as Princeton topped Pro Partia A.R.C. Bustio Arsizio in a tight finish at the line.
