Princeton Picks Up First Win Of The Season Over George Mason

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Princeton picked up its first victory of the season with a 3-0 decision over the George Mason Patriots during day one of the Maryland Invitational on Friday afternoon.

The Tigers saw their first separation in set one with a 4-1 push to take a 13-9 advantage, leading to a George Mason timeout. Princeton held its distance until the A-10 foe closed within two, 20-18. In front by one, head coach Sabrina King's squad earned the last two points of the set, picking up a 25-22 win.

The turning point of set two featured an 8-1 sprint by the Tigers to jump ahead, 20-13. Princeton wrapped up the stanza with five of six, collecting a 25-14 decision.

Already ahead by three, 17-14, Princeton registered eight of the last 10 points of set three to secure the sweep, 25-16.

Elena Montgomery (11) and Devon Peterkin (10) combined for 21 kills to pace Princeton. Jessie Harris had 37 assists and seven digs in the win. The Tigers finish the Maryland Tournament tomorrow (Sept. 14) vs. Arkansas (10 a.m.) and the host school (7 p.m.). Both games can be streamed on BTN Plus.
