Towson Takes Down Princeton To Finish Rutgers Tournament

PISCATAWAY – The Princeton Tigers fell in their final game at the Rutgers Tournament, 3-0, to Towson Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Tied at 19-all in the first set, Towson rolled off four straight points to get within two of clinching the set. Princeton snagged consecutive points, but Towson nabbed the final two points to take the stanza, 25-21.
In set two, Princeton faced a 23-20 deficit, but ripped off three consecutive kills to even the match at 23-all. However, Towson picked up Point 24 and 25 to take a 2-0 set advantage. The CAA foe collected a 25-14 set three decision to earn the win.
Devon Peterkin led the Tigers with 14 kills, giving her at least 10 kills in each of the squad's three matches this season. Jesse Harris had 20 assists while Lauren Flaming added 10 digs in the loss.
Princeton travels to College Park, Md., next week to participate in the Maryland Tournament. The Tigers open with George Mason on Sept. 13 (4 p.m.).
