Men's Hockey Stuns St. Lawrence With OT Win At The Buzzer
January 11, 2020 | Men's Ice Hockey
CANTON, N.Y. – If there's time on the clock, there's time to score.
Luke Keenan lived that mantra to the final second, redirecting a Jeremy Germain centering pass as time was running out and scoring the game-winner with 0:00.6 remaining at St. Lawrence.
Jeremie Forget finished with 22 saves to record his first career shutout.
Neither team scored in the first period, Princeton outshooting the Saints, 8-4. The Tigers had to kill an early penalty following a hooking penalty on Finn Evans 0:24 into the game, and Jeremie Forget stood strong on the only shot he was called upon to save. Princeton had a man-advantage of its own 4:22 into the game, but did not break through.
The score remained 0-0 after 40:00, once again neither team able to convert on a powerplay. The Tigers had nine shots in the middle frame, but the best chance was one that went wide – a Luke Keenan breakaway offering on the Tiger powerplay.
As the game passed the 5:00 minute mark of the third period, each goalie did his part to keep his team in the game. First, it was SLU keeper Daniel Mannella with a sprawling double-pad stack on Liam Gorman. On the ensuing rush, Forget had to make three saves in quick succession to deny the Saints from point-blank range.
The Tigers are off for exams, returning to action on January 31 against Colgate at Hobey Baker Rink. Faceoff with the Raiders is set for 7 p.m. Tickets to all Princeton men's hockey games can be found here.

\ The goal gave Princeton a 1-0 win, its first shutout victory on the road since a 4-0 win at Arizona State on 12/8/17.0:00.6 (OT) Don't. Stop. Competing.
