Women’s Track & Field Completes Competition at Columbia Challenge
January 25, 2020 | Women's Track and Field
NEW YORK – The Princeton University women's track & field team completed competition at the Columbia Challenge Saturday inside the Armory.
"It was a great meet where we saw a lot of other Ivy League schools; Columbia, Penn Harvard and Brown," said head coach Michelle Eisenreich. "We did really well against all of them and we have a bunch of things we need to tune up to continue to get faster and stronger. We were very pleased with how a lot of our women competed head-to-head and we need to keep at it and grind it out as we move into the last five weeks before Heps."
There were several highlights, including Annika Kelly's fifth-place finish in the weight throw. Her mark of 17.63 meters was just three inches off her all-time PR and the fifth-farthest throw in program history.
Competing in the 3K for the first time and in a highly-competitive field, Sophie Cantine delivered a strong performance as she finished fifth overall in 9:23.93 seconds. Her time was the eighth-fastest time in program history.
Katie DiFrancesco posted the second-fastest time in the Ivy League and finished 12th in the 200 meters; her time of 24.56 was narrowly short of her PR of 24.51 set at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational in January 2019.
