Raneem El Torky, Andrea Toth, Grace Doyle, Emily Rose, India Stephenson and Lucy Stephenson had the wins for the Tigers. who improved to 2-1 on the Ivy League season and 7-1 overall.
Princeton will open the home portion of the Ivy League schedule Saturday against No. 4 Yale at 1:30 p.m. in Jadwin Gym before No. 13 Brown visits Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Tigers on the match:
Freshman Lucy Stephenson:
"I had a great match today against my high school teammate Nicole Windreich. I lost the first but was able to make necessary adjustments to take the next three and ultimately the match. It was a bummer to be missing Emme Leonard and Madison Soukup, but we pulled out the win for them and they were texting us the whole way. It was a great atmosphere at Penn tonight and it's always awesome playing at such a beautiful facility. (We are) really excited to bring this energy and focus to Jadwin this weekend against Yale and Brown."
Sophomore Emily Rose:"Today's win really showed the hard work our team has been putting in even during exam period. It's always a bummer to be down players, but we were able to be incredibly resilient despite having two people out of our lineup. Everyone was incredibly focused and played every point with purpose. I was really psyched with my performance today. I was incredibly calm and felt in full control of the court. Today's match will give us great momentum going into the big weekend against Yale and Brown. It's always exciting to put our hard work in practice to the test in competition, and today further proved that our hard work is paying off."
Head coach Gail Ramsay:
"I was happy with the way the team competed tonight. First match after a tough exam period and with Emme Leonard out sick, I knew we had to focus in and play some good squash. I thought Lucy Stephenson did an awesome job at number nine. It was her first match in the top nine and I am sure she was a bit nervous. Fortunately, after dropping the first game, she made an adjustment and controlled play and won 3-1."
Junior Grace Doyle:
"I was really proud of how hard everyone competed. With two teammates out, a lot of us moved up on the ladder and I think everyone did an awesome job of fighting for every point and playing really solid squash. I'm so excited for the matches ahead and to have a full team back together."
