February 01, 2020 | Women's Track and Field
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Princeton University women's track & field team had a strong day of competition Friday at the Crimson Elite on the campus of Harvard University.
The Crimson Elite, along with the Scarlet & White Meet tomorrow, is a partnership between Harvard and Boston to provide competitive opportunities utilizing each facility's strengths. Harvard has a fast straight, fast jump runways and a great throwing facility with a fast circle. Boston University has one of the fastest ovals in the country! Harvard's meet featured multiple rounds of the 60 meter dash giving athletes not only multiple opportunities to race but also to practice racing rounds similar to championship meets.
Princeton's sprinters took advantage as Grace Lanouette and Olivia Hee moved into fourth and fifth place all-time in the 60 meter dash with times of 7.64 and 7.70. These times were just a few hundredths off their all-time PR.
"Coach Jones and I were especially excited for Grace as she watched from the sidelines most of last season battling injury," said head coach Michelle Eisenreich. "Grace will also take advantage of BU's fast oval on Saturday in the 200 meters."
The day started with an outstanding performance from Lindsey Schmidt in the pentathlon, who set a huge PR and scored in a multi at Heps for the first time last spring. She continued her upward trend in the pentathlon with a PR of 9.35 in the 60 hurdles on her to way to about a 500-point PR in her overall score. Schmidt currently ranks third in the Ivy League.
The Tigers' throwers also set several PR's. Luisa Chantler-Edmond and Annika Kelly both launched throws over a foot further than their previous PR's as Chantler-Edmond recorded a distance of 17.71 meters and Kelly 18.19 meters as she PR'd for the second-consecutive week in the weight throw.
Jalah Morris topped her previous lifetime best in the shot pot by almost a foot when she recorded a throw of 13.68 meters. Riding off Morris' positive vibes, Julia Harisay earned a second-place finish after a throw of 14.01 meters.
