No. 25 Princeton Rallies For 14th Straight Victory

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Carlie Littlefield helped the No. 25 Princeton Tiger rally from an early 12-0 deficit to take down the Yale Bulldogs, 55-39, at the Payne Whitney Gym on Friday evening.
Littlefield had a game-high 20 points to lead all scorers. 14 of her points came in the second half. Bella Alarie just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Ellie Mitchell grabbed six offensive rebounds and had 14 total.
Bulldogs ran off the first 12 points of the contest, but the Tigers scored the final six points of the stanza to get within four, 14-10.
Yale registered back-to-back baskets to open the second quarter, extending its lead to eight, 18-10, with 7:57 left.
Then the No. 1 scoring defense in the country locked in.
The Bulldogs had one basket the rest of the quarter.
Princeton sprinted out with eight straight to tie the contest before this bucket by Bella Alarie gave the road unit the lead for good …
Princeton stretched its advantage to double-digits, 35-25, at the 5:51 mark of the third frame, but couldn't pull away as Yale cut the deficit to five, 38-33, as the fourth quarter started.
The Tigers posted seven of the first nine points of the fourth frame, jumping back in front by 12, 47-35. Six consecutive points by Littlefield kept Yale at bay and sealed the Tigers' 14th straight victory.
Yale had just three baskets in the fourth stanza. The Bulldogs came into the contest, leading the Ivy League in scoring (73.6) and shooting percentage (.447). Their 39 points is the lowest total since Feb. 28, 2015.
Princeton improves to 18-1 overall and is now two games clear of everyone else in the Ivy League in the loss column. Yale dropped to 15-5 this season and 5-2 in conference action. The Tigers wrap up the weekend tomorrow at Brown. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. The game can be seen locally on NESNPlus+.
