No. 25 Princeton Easily Takes Down Brown, 85-48

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A dominating first half help extend the No. 25 Princeton Tigers' win streak to 15 with an 85-48 decision over the Brown Bears at Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday evening.

Princeton allowed six baskets in the first 20 minutes of game action to Brown.

The Tigers' sixth bucket came at the 2:36 mark of the first quarter.

It was that kind of first half.
Â
The Tigers knocked down 10-of-16 shots in the first quarter, racing out to a 24-4 lead. Princeton led by as many as 37 in the first half before taking a 49-16 lead into the break. Head coach Carla Berube's unit shot 58.8 percent in the first 20 minutes. Carlie Littlefield (14) and Maggie Connolly (11) paced the Tigers' offense during that stretch.

The Bears outscored the Tigers in the third quarter, 23-15, but Princeton's defense got back on track, allowing just nine points in the final 10 minutes in the win.

Four players scored in double figures led by Littlefield's 19 points. She contributed nine rebounds, five assists and a block. Bella Alarie posted 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five blocks while Ellie Mitchell added 13 points and eight rebounds. Connolly was perfect from the floor, going 4-of-4 with 11 points off the bench.

Princeton outrebounded Brown by 26, 50-24, while it had 20 helpers, nine blocks and seven steals in the win. The Tigers now sit at 19-1 overall and 7-0 in the Ivy League. Brown falls to 7-14 this season and 1-7 in the conference.

The nationally ranked Tigers start a five-game homestand next weekend with Harvard and Dartmouth coming to Jadwin.
