No. 21 Princeton Demolishes Brown; Earns Outright Ivy Title

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 21 Princeton Tigers picked up their 15th Ivy League title following an 81-39 takedown of the Brown Bears at Jadwin Gym on Friday evening.
Long after Jadwin emptied out, the Yale Bulldogs defeated Penn, 71-54, in Philadelphia, securing the Tigers' outright Ivy crown. It's the program's eighth conference championship since 2010 after having just six prior.
Bella Alarie led the way offensive with 18 points while three others (Julia Cunningham, Carlie Littlefield and Ellie Mitchell) scored in double figures. The two-time Ivy League Player of the Year also had four swats, three helpers and two steals. Mitchell produced a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
Princeton allowed 15 baskets to Brown including just four in the first half. Head coach Carla Berube's squad grabbed 22 offensive caroms and finished with a 44-30 rebounding advantage. The Tigers had 22 assists on 29 buckets, created a season-best 28 turnovers and had 16 steals. It's the 14th victory for the Tigers by more than 20 points and the 10th time they never trailed in a game.
The Tigers registered the first 14 points and did give up a point for the first 4:55 of the matchup. The closest Brown got was nine (14-7) with 3:37 left … in the first quarter. The Bears trailed by double-digits for the final 33:28 of game action.
With the win, Princeton's streak extends to 19 and makes it 23-1 overall. Brown dropped to 8-16 this season and 2-9 in the conference. Tomorrow's game vs. Yale is set for 5 p.m. Prior to the contest, the Tigers will honor its two senior captains, Bella Alarie and Taylor Baur, who earned their third straight Ivy championship in the win over Brown.
