El Torky, Ruggiero, Spahr Earn CSA All-America Honors
March 24, 2020 | Women's Squash
In what is the first such honor for each, junior Raneem El Torky, sophomore Elle Ruggiero and freshman Caroline Spahr have earned CSA second-team All-America honors.
The honors are the most for the program since five players earned All-America recognition in 2015.
El Torky and Ruggiero were each in the Ramsay Draw, the championship draw at the CSA individual tournament earlier this month, and though each battled for four games in her respective first-round match, they then met in a consolation battle that Ruggiero won. Spahr won the Holleran East draw title, taking all four of her matches in either three or four games, including an all-Tiger battle against teammate Andrea Toth that went four.
All three were also first-team All-Ivy honorees this season, and Spahr was the Ivy Rookie of the Year. During the dual-match schedule, El Torky split her time between courts one and two, playing in all 16 contests, while Ruggiero began the season on court five and moved all the way to court one, where she played the final nine matches. Spahr competed between courts three, four and five, spending the most time on court four, including a stretch to end the season when she competed there in each of the last eight duals and won six.
