Men's Basketball Uses Hot Shooting To Down Marist, 80-61

PRINCETON, N.J. – Buoyed by four double-digit scorers and 13 made three-pointers, the Princeton University men's basketball team downed Marist College, 80-61, Wednesday night inside Jadwin Gymnasium.
As a team, Princeton shot a scintillating 53.7 percent from the field, going 29-for-54. The Tigers also went 13-for-28 from behind the three-point line for 46.4 percent, and 9-for-11 from the free throw line.
Senior Jaelin Llewellyn led the way with 17 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while senior Ethan Wright went 5-for-7 from the field and 3-for-4 form beyond the arc for 15 points, and a game-high eight rebounds. Junior Ryan Langborg added a career-high 14 points, on 5-for-6 shooting from the field, and 4-for-5 shooting from three. He bested his previous career-high of 13 which he earned on two occasions; Friday, November 12, against the University of South Carolina, and Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at the University of Indiana. Junior Keeshawn Kellman also made in impact in his first career start, scoring 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting, hauling in four rebounds, and blocking two shots.
The Tigers opened the game with a 5-0 run, with assistance from senior Drew Friberg three-pointer from the left wing at 19:03 and a Kellman layup at 18:15. Princeton would use another 5-0 run, with a three-pointer from Langborg with 14:58 on the clock and a Llewellyn layup with 13:10 remaining in the half to extend its lead to 12-6, before a powerful put-back dunk and Another layup by Kellman saw the Tigers take a 16-9 lead.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Wright at 10:09 and Friberg at 8:33 saw the Tigers expand their lead to double-figures at 22-11. A hook shot by freshman Mason Hooks with 3:39 remaining sparked a 7-0 run, that saw the Tigers take a 39-20 advantage with 2:40 left in the half, and a 42-25 lead heading into halftime.
Princeton picked up in the second half where it left off in the first; Wright found Kellman for an emphatic alley-oop with 18:17 on the clock to five the Tigers an 18:17 advantage. A junior Tosan Evbuomwan three-point play at 18:00 expanded Princeton's lead to 19, at 49-30.
Langborg drained his second three-pointer of the contest with 13:58 left to play, giving Princeton a 54-38 advantage. Shortly after, the Tigers used a 10-0 run sparked by a Hooks layup with 10:50 on the clock to take a 67-43 lead over the Red Foxes.
Princeton would take a 24-point lead over Marist thanks to a pair of Wright free throws with 5:01 remaining, making it a 71-47 game. Freshman Philip Byriel knocked down Princeton's 13th three-pointer of the game with 00:56 left to play, and the Tigers prevailed with a final score of 80-61.
