Vigilante Named Ivy League Coach Of The Year; 8 Named All-Ivy

After capturing the 2021 Ivy League championship with a win at Heps, the men's cross country team collected a large haul of awards as the Ivy League handed out its yearly honors.
Head coach Jason Vigilante was named Ivy League Coach of the Year for the fourth time, while a program-record eight Tigers earned All-Ivy honors.
Vigilante now has been named Ivy League Coach of the Year four times, the most of any Ivy head coach since the award was first presented in 2014.
"This is a special day for our program, I am proud of the effort the guys put in over the course of the season to be ready for Heps and they showed up in a big way," said Vigilante. "The great thing about these All-Ivy selections is that they are truly earned by the student-athlete. Their performances at West Windsor were great individually, and combined they led to a 22nd Ivy championship for Princeton. Now, we look forward to Regionals and the next steps in our season."
All-Ivy honors are awarded to the top 14 finishers at Heps. Runners who finish 1-7 are named first-team All-Ivy, while those who finish 8-14 are named second-team All-Ivy.
Princeton had eight of the top-14 finishers at Heps en route to a 15-point victory as the Tigers scored 28 points to finish head of second-place Harvard who totaled 43.
Earning first-team All-Ivy honors for the Tigers were: Ed Trippas (2nd), Kevin Berry (3rd), Anthony Monte (6th).
Earning second-team All-Ivy honors for the Tigers were: Matthew Farrell (8th), Jakob Kintzele (9th), Nick Bendsten (12th), Matt Grossman (13th), Josh Zelek (14th).
Berry was also named Academic All-Ivy for his efforts in the classroom as well as on the course.
Notes:
- Princeton's eight All-Ivy selections surpass the previous record of six (2012)
- The Tigers accounted fro 57% of the All-Ivy selections this year.
- Six of Princeton's eight All-Ivy selections were first-time honorees
- Matt Grossman (first team in 2018) and Ed Trippas (second team in 2018) are the returning All-Ivy selections
- Matthew Farrell, Anthony Monte, Jakob Kintzele, Nick Bendsten and Josh Zelek each will return for the Tigers in 2022.
