Monday, Stout Titles Highlight Eight Place-Winners at Southeast Open

Junior Quincy Monday at 157 pounds and freshman Luke Stout at 197 led eight place-winning finishes as the Princeton wrestling team opened the season on Sunday at the Southeast Open, held at Roanoke College in Salem, Va.
Monday had two falls and two decisions on his way to a title, winning 7-3 over Virginia Tech's Connor Brady in the final. Stout had two decisions and a fall on the way to his championship, defeating Virginia Tech's Cody Howard 16-12 in the final.
Sophomore Mikey Squires was a finalist as well, advancing on two decisions and a medical forfeit to reach the final at 174 against Virginia Tech's Mekhi Lewis, which Lewis won 13-6.
Freshmen Nick Masters at 133 and Jacob Mann at 141 were each third-place finishers, with Masters getting a decision and a fall on his way to a semifinal match with Virginia Tech's Korbin Myers that Myers won 16-4. Masters bounced back to win the third-place bout 8-5 over Columbia's Zach Whitmer. Mann won a quarterfinal by decision before running into Virginia Tech's Collin Gerardi in the semis in a 6-0 finish. Mann then took third place over North Carolina's Wil Guida, wrestling unattached, 5-0.
Sophomore Jack DelGarbino took fourth at 285, classmate Nick Kayal was the fifth-place finisher at 133, and junior Grant Cuomo finished sixth at 165 to complete Princeton's eight placewinners.
Princeton's first dual of the season is ahead on Nov. 19, and it will be against the team at the top of the Nov. 1 NWCA poll in Iowa in what will be the Hawkeyes' dual opener as well. The match is one of three Princeton has against teams in the top 10 of that ranking, which has Princeton at No. 22, and one of six against top-25 teams.
