Princeton placed five inside the top-12 at the Lehigh Invitational, finishing second via a tiebreaker in the opening meet of the season.
All five Tigers who scored crossed the line at the same time to give Princeton the 8-9-10-11-12 finishers. Abey Loveys, Margaret Liebich, Fiona Max, Angela Allen and Lucca Fulkerson each recorded a finishing mark of 22:14.8 over the 6K course where the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional will be held in November.
The most difficult course of the day was likely the one traversed to even make it to the race. Due to road conditions resulting from the aftermath of Hurricane Ida's path througn the Northeast, the Tigers did not arrive at the course until 17 minutes before the gun went off. Princeton stepped to the line in its training shoes, and proceeded to set off fior its first race since 2019.
"The mission was to run together and put forth a good tempo," said head coach Brad Hunt. "We ran off the bus, pinned on our bibs stepped to the line and had a blast. Mission accomplished, and definitely a race we'll never forget."
Princeton hopes to have an easier time of making it to the course next weekend, hosting HYP at West Windsor on September 11.
