January 22, 2022 | Men's Track and Field
ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The Princeton University men's track and field team put on a magnificent display at the Wesley Brown Invitational, Saturday afternoon at the Naval Academy.
Andrei Iosivas claimed victory in the Heptathlon, setting a new school record in the process. Iosivas' score of 5715 points breaks Duane Hunes' record of 5640 at the 2007 Princeton Relays. What's more, Iosivas' score is now the best mark in the nation, surpassing Dallin Vorkink's (BYU) score of 5500.
In Saturday's events, Andrei placed second in the 60 hurdles (8.37), second in the pole vault (4.30 m), and fifth in the 1000 run (2:57.66). His time in the 60 hurdles tied his personal best, while his time in the 1000 run was approximately six seconds faster than his previous personal best.
The Wesley Brown Invitational saw another school record fall, as Senior Michael Phillippy ran a blazing 21.31 in the 200 meters, surpassing Carrington Akosa's time of 21.34 at 2018 HYPs.
Two other Tigers had top-10 school performances, both in the 400 meters. Anderson Dimon took second running a 48 flat, landing him ninth all-time in school history, passing Peter Arduino's mark of 48.05 at the 1983 Heps. Ladislav Topfer (48.50) also competed in the 400 meters, placing third.
Starting with short distance events, freshman Kaden Reynolds placed second in the 60 meters with a time of 6.99 seconds, while Christian Brown (8.08) took third in the 60-meter hurdles.
