PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 23 Princeton University women's tennis team will open play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend Saturday against No. 14 Texas A&M, at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Tigers would then move on to play either the University of South Carolina, or Texas Tech on Sunday, January 30.
Last Time Out
The No. 23 Tigers fell 4-2 at No. 6 Duke on Sunday, January 23, in Durham, North Carolina. No. 7 Daria Frayman and Grace Joyce earned a 6-3 win over No. 20 Chloe Beck and Margaryta Bilokin in doubles while Nathalie Rodilosso and Brianna Shvets also overcame Kelly Chen and Ellie Coleman, 7-5.
In singles, Neha Velaga defeated No. 48 Ellie Coleman 6-3, 6-3.
Tigers in the Rankings
Along with Frayman and Joyce checking in at No. 7 in the ITA doubles rankings, Frayman is ranked No. 4 in singles. Victoria Hu is ranked No. 23, and Brianna Shvets No. 60.
Scouting No. 14 Texas A&M
The No. 14 Aggies are 4-0 on the season, most recently defeating Texas State 7-0 on Saturday, January 22. Prior to taking on the No. 23 Tigers, No. 14 Texas A&M faces both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, and Prarie View.
In doubles, Jayci Goldsmith and Tatiana Makarova are ranked No. 5, while Makarova checks in at No. 122 in the ITA singles rankings.
The No. 14 Aggies advanced to the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Tournament in 2021, and went 21-8 overall and 9-4 in Big 12 play.
Scouting South Carolina
The Gamecocks are 0-1 on the season, falling 5-2 to No. 19 Oklahoma on Friday, January 21.
