October 14, 2022 | Heavyweight Rowing
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton men's heavyweight rowing team has announced its 2022-23 schedule.
"We're very excited to get back in action," said Princeton head coach Greg Hughes. "The fall portion of the schedule will get our team prepared for the upcoming spring season which is also a tough challenge with the strength of the Ivy League. Our training has been great so far and we can't wait to see how we do against others."
The Tigers will have boats racing in the prestigious Head of The Charles regatta on Oct. 23. They follow that up with ending the fall season with the Princeton Chase on Nov. 6 at Lake Carnegie.
Spring 2023 gets underway with Georgetown, Drexel and Temple making the trip to Lake Carnegie on Mar. 25.
Navy also comes to Princeton on Apr. 1 before the Tigers head to Philadelphia to take on Penn and Columbia. Four more Ivy foes will race at Lake Carnegie in Harvard (Apr. 15) along with Yale, Cornell (Apr. 22) and Brown (Apr. 29). The Ivy League had six of the top 10 teams in the Varsity Eight finals at 2022 IRA Championships.
Eastern Sprints are on May 14 while the 2023 IRA National Championships are June 2-4th at Mercer Lake in West Windsor.
Princeton secured a gold medal at last year's IRAs with the varsity four capturing first place, the program's first gold at IRAs since 2016.
