Rao Leads Tigers at UNC's Tar Heel Invite to Close Fall Season

Rookie Catherine Rao turned in the low round of the tournament for any Princeton player, shooting a 71 Tuesday to lead the team in its final event of the fall season at North Carolina's Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at the Governor's Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The field featured eight teams in Golfstat's Division I top 50, and No. 39 Kentucky won the event at -4, five strokes better than runner-up and No. 1 Wake Forest. Kentucky's Jensen Castle outdueled Duke's Phoebe Brinker on a playoff hole after each finished the three rounds at -7, claiming medalist honors. All of the top five finishers are in Golfstat's top-100 player ranking.
Rao's 71 was three strokes better than each of her first two rounds of 74, culminating in a 3-over finish to place 15th overall. Princeton finished 12th as a team.
