No. 8 Princeton Hosts Dartmouth To Start Ivy Stretch Drive

The Princeton field hockey team has finished the mid-week and multi games per week portion of its schedule. Now all that's left for the 2022 regular season are five Ivy League games, one per weekend for the next five weekends.

It starts when Dartmouth comes to Bedford Field for this week's game.

Five storylines

The league race
Princeton is one of three teams in the league who are currently 2-0, along with Cornell and Harvard. Those two will be Princeton's next two opponents after the Dartmouth game, with a trip to Cornell next Saturday and then a home game against Harvard on Sunday, Oct. 23.

This week's games are Dartmouth at Princeton, Penn at Cornell, Yale at Harvard and Columbia at Brown.

Brown and Yale are currently 1-1, while Dartmouth, Penn and Columbia are all 0-2.

By the way, the current standings mirror exactly the league standings at this time a year ago.

Scoring offense
Princeton is ranked ninth in Division I and first in the Ivy League in scoring offense with 3.08 goals per game.

Princeton has scored 16 goals in its last three games, road wins over Yale, UConn and Monmouth.

The only one
For what it's worth, Princeton is the only team in all of Division I who has yet to play a game in which there have been a shutout, either winning or losing.

Series history
This will be the 43^rd meeting between Princeton and Dartmouth, and Princeton holds a 32-8-2 lead in the series to date. Princeton has won the last nine meetings.

Princeton defeated the Big Green 6-0 in Hanover a year ago behind four goals from Beth Yeager and one each from Ali McCarthy and Sammy Popper.

Grace Schulze, the reigning Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, had two assists for the first nine games of the year. She has three goals and five assists since … Princeton scored six goals in the win over Monmouth, and five of them came off penalty corners … Ella Hampson has started the last two games and scored her first career goal in the win over Monmouth. Hampson's goal was the only one that didn't come off a corner … Autumn Brown, a senior defender, has scored her first two career goals this season, at Rutgers and at Monmouth … Princeton is ranked eighth in the NFHCA poll and ninth in the RPI.
