PRINCETON, N.J. – Following last week's 2022 Ivy League Cross Country Heptagonal Championships, the Ivy League has announced the cross country coach of the year as well as the Academic All-Ivy recipients.
After leading the Princeton Men's cross country team to an Ivy League championship in Van Cortlandt Park, Jason Vigilante has been named the 2022 Ivy League Coach of the Year.
Vigilante now has been named Ivy League Coach of the Year five times. He has received this honor the most of any Ivy head coach since the award was first presented in 2014.
At last week's Championship race, Vigilante helped lead the Tigers to capture their second straight men's title and their 23rd title in program history.
Four Tigers finished inside the Top-10 and helped Princeton to win a hard-fought race and come out on top three points ahead of second place Harvard.
"It's an honor to be named the Ivy League Men's coach of the year," said Vigilante. "This award is merely a reflection of the young men on the team and of all of the people that support us."
The Ivy League has also announced the student-athletes selected for 2022 Cross Country Academic All-Ivy honors. This honor is awarded to the men and women who are key contributors on a varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average. Each institution awards one member from their women's and men's program this honor.
For the women's team, Tsion Yared has been named Academic All-Ivy and for the men, Anthony Monte. Yared had an impressive finish at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships, finishing in 14th. She was also named Second Team All-Ivy following Friday's race. Anthony Monte was the top-performer for the Princeton men, finishing in third place. Monte's performance also resulted in him being named First Team All-Ivy.
The First and Second Team All-Ivy runners were announced following the championship race on Friday, and all were recognized for their performances at an awards ceremony in Van Cortlandt Park.
