Women’s Track & Field Has Strong Season Opener at Joe Handelman Invite

Final Results
Princeton, NJ – The Princeton women's track and field team kicked off their indoor season at home on Saturday afternoon at the Joe Handelman Invitational in Jadwin Gymnasium, as several program top-10 marks were recorded, and several collegiate debuts made.
The Tigers swept the top-6 in the 600m. Freshman Morgan Monesmith made her collegiate track debut with a first-place finish of 1:33.97. Maggie Hock took second (1:35.05), Mena Scatchard third (1:35.05), Charlotte O'Toole fourth (1:36.91), Peyton Leigh fifth (1:37.86), and Madeline Cramer placed sixth (1:38.05).
In the 60m, a Top-10, program record was set. Brianna Mponzi took first place, (7.64) and finished with the seventh best recorded time in program history. Olivia Hee took second (7.72), Harlowe Brumett-Dunn third (7.87), and Alexandra Kelly placed fifth (8.01).
Within the women's 300 m, more Top-10 school records were set. Junior Arianna Smith took first place in the event with a time of 39.67, and with this result she finishes with the No. 2 best time in school history. India Ingemi, who took second place, (40.53) finished Saturday with the ninth best time in program history.
Finishing out the Tigers in the women's 300 m, Lauren Harris finished fifth (42.24), Morgan Monesmith seventh (42.47), Mena Scatchard eighth (42.70), Maggie Hock ninth (43.26), Charlotte O'Toole tenth (43.69), and Peyton Leigh 11th (44.02).
In the 60m hurdles event, sophomore, Lily Parris took a second place finish in the final, with an impressive time of 8.82. With this time, Parris ties for the No. 10 spot on the all-time, top ten performances list.
Two Tigers landed within the top-three for the Women's Long Jump. Freshman, Alexandra Kelly took first with a result of 5.61m and Tia Rozario took third with 5.52 m.
A trio of Tigers had an impressive showing within the weight throw. Taking first place, Annika Kelly completed a 18.13 m throw, Siniru Iheoma took second with a result of 16.9 m, and Katelyn Peterson placed fourth with a distance of 6.16 m. Iheoma's performance earned her a spot on the top-ten, all time preformances list at No. 8.
Siniru Iheoma earned second place in the shot put with a distance of 14.65 m, while Julia Jongejeugd earned sixth place with a 10.97 toss.
Tessa Mudd was the lone Tiger to compete within the women's Pole Vault and landed a first place finish with a result of 4.15 m for her collegiate debut. With this result, Mudd earns the second best performance in program history.
To cap off Saturday's meet, the squad of Brianna Mponzi, Adelaide Asante, Harlowe Brumett-Dunn, and Maisha Atkinson dominated the 4x400, and ran an impressive time of 3:56.23. The Tigers took first in the event and were cheered on by coaches, teammates, and friends, until the final seconds within Jadwin.
